With the promotion of Bill Allen to the role of CEO here at Bank of the Bluegrass, we also welcomed a new bank president on September 1: Tom Greinke. Tom’s a familiar face for many of our customers, having been part of the Bank of the Bluegrass family for over 6 years while serving as Senior Vice President and Chief Lending Officer.
Tom got his start in banking in 1997 with a job that brought him to Lexington after graduating from Indiana University in Bloomington. “Honestly, we thought we’d be in Lexington for a few years and ultimately move to a larger metropolitan area,” said Tom. “After getting to know the community, and seeing how much the community cares for each other, my wife Kelly and I knew it was a perfect place to live and raise our family. We can’t imagine being anywhere else.”
Early in his career, Tom went back to school while working as a commercial lender and earned his Master of Business Administration from the University of Kentucky. During this time, Tom’s personal and professional life both flourished in Lexington. The Greinke family grew, adding three children Olivia, Eli and Ava. In addition, Tom’s parents moved to Lexington and now live just two streets away.
Though the majority of Tom’s career has centered around banking in the Lexington area, he also got experience in business through a three-year stint at Big Ass Fans. “I think one of the things that gives me unique perspective in banking is the time I spent on the other side of the table,” said Tom. “I’ve been the customer, and that helps me understand how to best serve our customers.”
In his new role as President at Bank of the Bluegrass, Tom will oversee commercial lending, mortgage lending, loan operations, credit underwriting and marketing. With over 20 years of lending and management experience, we are thrilled to have his leadership in this position. Please join us in welcoming Tom Greinke to his new role!
